About Me

Welcome to my little pocket of the AboutUs Universe!

Odds are if you've landed on this page you've seen my edits somewhere on the wiki or I've left you a talk message.

I'm a wiki expert who has made over 20,000 edits to various wikis and led countless wiki projects and mediated numerous wiki-based edit conflicts. I live in Portland, OR and works as a technology and wiki writer and consultant for AboutUs.org and other websites.

Until recently, I was a full-time AboutUs employee working primarily as a co-organizer for the Content Team. A few months ago, I took a step back and officially left the company to pursue some creative writing-based activities. However, the nature of wiki as it is (addictive), I've been back around a bit lately, lending a hand as a consultant to create templates to simplify wiki-adoption. Some of the work I've been doing can be seen on AboutUsTemplateToolbox. I also can be read regularly on the AboutUs Weblog at http://blog.aboutus.org

Outside of AboutUs, I'm one of the original founders/organizers for the Portland WikiWednesday group which meets monthly to discuss wiki and provides resources and instruction on wiki technology and philosophy to a variety of non-profit groups in the Portland area.

Before getting the wiki bug, I spent over 10 years as a journalist, including a stint as news director for a community radio station, receiving journalism awards from both the Washington Publishers Association, the Society for Professional Journalism and the Associated Press. Additionally, I was one of the founders and co-publishers of Ellipsis... Literary Serials and Narrative Culture, a nationally-distributed literary journal highlighting the long lost tradition of the literary serial.

As a technology aficionado and believer in shared knowledge, I also have taught writing and technology in after school programs in Oregon and Colorado.

I hold a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, CO; my undergraduate degree is in communications from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.

My short fiction and poetry have been published by a variety of small literary journals. I have a weblog at DrunkenDumbshow.com.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, if I can't answer them, I'll try to find someone who can! If you don't want to leave a message here, you can always Send me a private email

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies — 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.' "
-- Kurt Vonnegut, God Bless You Mr. Rosewater.

"If I work hard as I can in my life, I may be able to end up building this thing that nobody can tear down after I'm gone."
-- Jerry Garcia

"My hope still is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here."
-- Jim Henson

"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.'"
-- The Beatles, The End
